Motorcycle Safety Important to Sinclair Law

Because Brad Sinclair is a biker himself, he understands the importance of safety on the road. Whether you’re taking a joy ride on a Saturday afternoon or a road trip across the country, Brad Sinclair wants to make sure people are always practicing safe biking habits. Here are a few of his tips for experienced and novice bikers alike.

Drive Like You Mean It
Bikers must practice defensive driving at all costs. You can never assume any driver on the road sees you. The fact of the matter is that drivers are looking for vehicles much larger than your motorcycle, so you need to learn how to stay out of blind spots, signal appropriately, and watch for vehicles changing lanes or turning.

Pay Attention to the Weather
Whether you like to acknowledge it or not, a motorcycle is not as stable as a car. That means riding in extreme weather conditions is not as safe as it may be in a four wheel vehicle. Always check the weather before you ride, even if it looks like a beautiful day when you crank up the engine. This is especially true in Florida, where everyone knows the weather can change in the blink of an eye. If you are looking to ride after a rain shower, be sure to allow ample time for the roads to dry and for oil residues to wash away.

Follow the Rules
The third tip is to simply obey the laws of the road. A proper understanding of road laws can save you from accidents and injury. Try taking a motorcycle safety course or reading a state-specific rule book to learn more about which rules apply to the roads you drive on.
